1. Basic Facts of the School
Initiated in June 2008 as MBA Education Center, the School was officially renamed in March 2013. Focusing on a Master of Business Administration program, the School is fully responsible for student enrollment, curriculum design, faculty, degree conferment, administrative case base development, and student and alumnus matters.
On June 9, 2009, the University was approved by the State Council Academic Degrees Committee to confer MBA degree, which is ZUFE’s first professional master’s program.
Lying on the University’s Wenhua Campus in west Hangzhou, the MBA School boasts excellent teaching facilities, including 4 MBA terrace lecture halls, 2 U-shaped classrooms, 6 standard classrooms, 8 case rooms, a large reference room, a student center and the School Archives. There are currently 300-odd students, 60 percent of whom are high-ranking administrators in banks, securities companies and other big enterprises. The total enrolment over the past four years stands at 397.
2. Teaching Team
The MBA School has a strong innovative faculty capable of teaching and supervising students excellently.
The School’s core courses are taught by selected teachers from the Schools of Business Administration, Accounting, International Finance, Finance and Public Administration, International Economics and Trade, and Information Technology. Among them there are over 23 full professors and 29 associate professors, half of whom hold a doctoral degree. Most of the teachers have rich experience in business management.
The University’s most distinguished professors are often invited over to give lectures to the students, which helps enliven the learning atmosphere and broaden the students’ horizon.
Meanwhile, internationally or nationally renowned guest professors teach portions of courses or give talks to offer students better learning opportunities.
Also, 30-odd CEOs and government chiefs serve as non-academic tutors who give the students useful advice on social practice and career development. .
Finally, about 100 full professors or associate professors serve as MBA thesis supervisors. Most of them have experience in the management of large and medium-sized enterprises.
3. The Aim and Strengths of Our Program
The School is committed to turning its students into highly innovative CEOs and senior administrators with team spirit and leadership.
The MBA program will be developed along five strands: financial planning and control, financial investment and management, human resources management, business operation management, and enterprise tax planning.
The University’s undergraduate programs in finance and accounting are the strongest in Zhejiang Province. 25 percent of the CPAs around the province are graduates of ZUFE. Our graduates are particularly welcome in financial and insurance system. The tax planning strand is the only one offered by a university in the country. About one third of the administrators in the province’s finance and tax system are graduated from ZUFE. Hence, our program is both unique and excellent.
4. MBA Culture
The School has contractual arrangements with some companies in Zhejiang which serve as pre-service training bases for its students. It also has close links with several universities in the United States, Korea, Japan, Singapore, and Spain, which bring about mutual visits by teachers and students.
Our students have won several prizes in China MBA Enterprise Simulation Contest, Asia-pacific ERP Table Simulation Contest, China MBA Business Case Competition, etc.
Since its establishment in September 2010, the MBA Society of ZUFE has been actively engaged in academic exchange and cooperation as well as charity. The School is a permanent member of Zhejiang MBA Sodality whose secretariat functions in the School.
5. The Administrative Case Center
The Center functions both internally and externally. Internally, it provides close links between teachers and students to improve teaching and enroll excellent teachers. Externally, it is linked with typical Chinese enterprises to collect exemplary administrative cases. Meanwhile, the Center joins the network of case teaching and research formed by business schools at home and abroad. The School attaches much importance to case development, introduction, popularization and teaching .
