The School of Accounting, the largest school within Zhejiang University of Finance and Economics, is well-known for training high-caliber accounting professionals. It consists of Departments of Financial Accounting, International Accounting, Financial Management, Auditing, Asset Evaluation, and Research Centers for Modern Accounting, Internal Control, Corporate Social Responsibility, Forensic Accounting. The School also houses International Education Exchange Center and Accountant Training Center. It offers undergraduate programs in accounting, financial management, auditing, and asset evaluation. Accounting and financial management programs are strong not only in Zhejiang but also in China. Meanwhile, the School also offers postgraduate programs in accounting (both academic and professional degrees) and asset evaluation. Currently enrolled are 2700 undergraduate and 210 postgraduate students.
The School’s prestigious accounting program is officially approved as Zhejiang’s “Key Academic Discipline” and a “National Special Program”. Financial management and accounting are the provincial strong programs while auditing is a specially-funded provincial program. Fundamental accounting is listed as a national excellent course and principles of accounting as a national brand course for international students. Our accounting teaching team is one of the strongest in Zhejiang.
The School has collaborative arrangements with the ACCA and Canada’s CGA, offering tailor-made programs featuring bilingual teaching with imported English coursebooks. Currently it is the only ACCA and CGA examination center in the province. The School, in association with the University of Toledo, U.S. offers a 4 plus 1 program, which enables students to obtain a Master of Science in Accounting from Toledo. Working together with Laurentian University of Canada, the School also offers a double-degree program, through which students can obtain a bachelor’s in management from ZUFE and an extra one in business from Laurentian.
The School faculty stands at 66, including 19 full professors and 22 associate professors. Twenty-eight teachers hold a doctorate. There are 3 doctoral supervisors and 35 masters’ tutors. Widely known for their excellent teaching and research, our teaching staff has been awarded various national and provincial honors and prizes. They do exceptionally good research in accounting standards, corporate finance, auditing theory and practice. In recent years, the School faculty has won 5 national research grants and 40-odd projects are receiving provincial or ministerial research fund. Many articles by our teachers have appeared in high-impact journals both in China and internationally. More than forty monographs have been published, including Study on American Accounting Standards, Listed Companies’ Profit Manipulation and Surplus Management, Study of Governmental Audit Supervision Mechanism, etc.
