The School of Finance and Public Administration consists of Departments of Finance, Taxation, Administrative Management, Labor and Social Security, and Public Administration in addition to Research Center for Financial and Economic News. It offers both undergraduate and postgraduate programs in public finance, taxation, public administration, social security and education economics.
Public finance and taxation are among the strongest programs in the University. The School’s public finance program is supported by a provincial-level research base in humanities and social sciences. It is also a special state-level program and is funded by the Ministry of Education for a pilot teaching reform project. Its public finance teaching team is one of the best in the country. Taxation and public management programs are also receiving provincial funding. Public Finance and Chinese Taxation are listed as the “National Model Courses” and Tax Administration as the “Provincial Model Course”.
The School faculty stands at 50 full-time teachers, among whom there are 23 professors and 12 associate professors, 23 of whom holding a doctorate and 5 being Ph.D. candidates. One of our professors receives special subsidy from the State Council. Another one is officially recognized as a “National Expert” supported by state funding. Two professors are receiving the Ministry of Education’s special funding for distinguished teaching and research professionals. Nine professors have won provincial prizes and honors either for excellent teaching or research. Finally, 20 young teachers have been honored by the provincial government to mark their achievements in teaching or research.
In recent years, the School faculty has obtained 50-odd national and provincial research grants. A number of research excellence prizes at or above provincial level have been awarded to our teachers. More than 1,000 articles by the School faculty have appeared in the country’s leading journals, notably Social Sciences in China, Economic Research Journal, Xinhua Academic Article Abstracts, CASS Journal of Political Science, Management World, Public Financial Research, etc.
