Recently, the 2020 Academic Ranking of Chinese Universities Discipline Edge was released and ZUFE is a member of the top 100 list, ranking 9th among the finance and economics universities nationwide.

Discipline edge is the proportion of dominant disciplines in the total number of under-construction disciplines. It is an important reflection of the quality of discipline development of the university, and more importantly, the characteristics of the school. Discipline edge is one of the 30 evaluation ways of the 2020 Academic Ranking of Chinese Universities, and is classified under the discipline level module. The List includes the universities ranked in 2020 Academic Ranking of Chinese Universities and having academic master's degree programs (excluding universities in the arts).

The development of Chinese universities has begun to focus on quality rather than scale of disciplines since the "Double First-Class" initiative started. Both the quantity and the proportion of high-level disciplines should be considered to evaluate the development of disciplines. Discipline edge ranking will urge colleges and universities to pay full attention to the proportion of high-level discipline and quality subjects while expanding the scale of subjects, and to pay more attention to their characteristics and core competitiveness.
