Time:May 13, 2020  clicks:

According to the final results of the recent 2020 Mathematical Contest in Modeling (MCM), students of ZUFE have won 3 first prizes and 6 second prizes, hitting a record high for ZUFE in this competition.

The event has attracted 20,948 teams from various prestigious universities like the University of Cambridge, Columbia University, Cornell University, Peking University, and Tsinghua University in over 20 countries including the United States, China, Germany, Canada, the UK, and Australia. In consideration of COVID-19, it was held in two different sessions, with each lasting for four days and nights. Participating teams can choose one subject from topics regarding continuous data mode, discrete data mode, big data, operational research/network science, environmental science and policies to build modeling, seek solutions, conduct analysis, and then compose papers in English, which requires students to demonstrate their comprehensive professional competence.

MCM/ICM, sponsored by the Consortium for Mathematics and its Application, is the single most influential mathematical contest of modeling in the world. The content of the competition involves many fields, including but not limited to economy, administration, environment, resources, and ecology. It aims to encourage college students to clarify, analyze, and propose solutions to various practical problems within a variable scope, and mirror contestants’ ability to tackle problems and search for solutions accordingly as a team.
