ZUFE Alumnus Appointed as Special Financial Expert of UNESCO in China

Recently, the Secretariat of China National Commission for the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) held a symposium for consultant experts and an appointment ceremony for newly-appointed experts in Beijing. Xi Wu, an alumnus of the international accounting major of ZUFE graduated in 1999, was appointed as a special financial expert of UNESCO in China, mainly serving as an expert consultant for UNESCO in finance and auditing and other related fields.

UNESCO is one of the specialized agencies of the United Nations established on November 6, 1946, with its headquarters in Paris, France. It aims at promoting international cooperation in education, science, and culture to facilitate mutual understanding among people of all countries and uphold world peace. China serves as one of the founding members of UNESCO and China National Commission for UNESCO is an interdepartmental government agency led by the Ministry of Education, responsible for cooperation between China and UNESCO.

Mr. Wu was graduated from ZUFE with a bachelor’s degree in international accounting in 1999, and received his PhD degree from Central University of Finance and Economics (CUFE) in 2005. He is now a professor, dean, and doctoral supervisor of the School of Accounting of CUFE. In 2010, he was appointed as a new member of the Complaint and Rights Defense Committee of the China Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Furthermore, he joined the representatives of the Advisory Panel of the International Council for Education Standards in the Asia-Pacific Federation of Accountants. He is a famous accounting expert and scholar at home and abroad in his young age.
