Recently, the final of the "Challenge Cup"—the 17th Zhejiang Provincial Extracurricular Academic Competition for Sci-Tech Works—came to a close. After fierce competition, ZUFE won one special prize, six second prizes, eleven third prizes, and the Best Progress Award. In the Red Culture activities related to the Chinese revolutionary heritage, two teams from ZUFE became members of "100 Excellent Teams of Zhejiang Province," one of which attained first place in the 17th "Challenge Cup."
This contest was hosted by the Communist Youth League of the Provincial Party Committee, Zhejiang Provincial Department of Education, Provincial Academy of Social Sciences, Zhejiang Provincial Association for Science and Technology, and Provincial Students’ Federation. A total of 323 works were shortlisted for the final, with 1,633 works from 106 colleges and universities competing in the semi-final. There were altogether 22 works from ZUFE competing in this event, seven of which were selected for the final. Meanwhile, more than 7,800 works from higher education institutions across the province took part in the Red Event specially added in this competition, ranging from recording the revolutionary footprints and tracing revolutionary memories to interviewing the heroes and the injured about their stories in the revolutionary period. Among them, 22 teams were chosen into the province's top ten teams for the Red Culture event, and 19 teams for the final of this special activity.
The "Challenge Cup" is honored as the "Olympic Games" for contemporary college students for their scientific and technological innovations, currently becoming an important window for higher education institutions to demonstrate the level of running schools, their quality of education and students' comprehensive character. Also, this contest set a special event-the "Red Practice" for the first time, aiming to guide the students to combine individual innovation practices with patriotism to serve the country, and to pool students' enthusiasm to rejuvenate the nation through scientific and technological innovations.
