ZUFE and Bangor University Sign a Framework Agreement for Cooperative Education

From November 1 to 3, Andrew Edwards, pro-vice-chancellor of Bangor University, led a delegation to ZUFE to participate in its 50th Anniversary Celebration. During the visit, the two sides signed a framework agreement to jointly establish a Sino-foreign cooperative education institution. The delegation also attended the unveiling ceremony of the Sino-British Joint Center on Securities Research and Training.

Wei Jiang, president of ZUFE and vice secretary of its Party Committee, warmly received the visiting delegation from Bangor University. He expressed gratitude to Bangor University for their participation in the 50th Anniversary Celebration. Wei hoped that the agreement signing would serve as a catalyst to further enhance mutual understanding and trust, strengthen exchanges between faculty and students, deepen strategic collaboration, and make greater contributions to the cultural and educational exchanges between China and the UK.

Edwards reviewed the history of collaboration between the two universities and highly praised ZUFE’s anniversary activities. He stated that Bangor University would actively promote in-depth collaboration in areas such as joint education and talent cultivation, aiming to train more high-level professional talents.

Vice President Zheng Yali and Andrew Edwards signed the framework agreement on behalf of the two universities to jointly establish the Sino-foreign cooperative education institutions. The signing ceremony was attended by heads of ZUFE’s International Office , School of Information Technology and Artificial Intelligence, School of Data Sciences, and School of Finance. They engaged in in-depth discussions with their British counterparts on key aspects of the cooperative education institution, including talent cultivation programs, curriculum design, and faculty allocation.

Under the framework agreement, the two sides will collaborate closely, leveraging their respective strengths to offer undergraduate and graduate programs in fields such as artificial intelligence, data science, business data analytics, and financial technology. The partnership aims to cultivate international innovative talents urgently needed in the digital economy.

On November 2, the inauguration ceremony of the Joint Center on Securities Research and Training was held at the School of Finance. Zheng Yali, Andrew Edwards, Jin Chenglu, deputy dean of the School of Finance, and Xu Guanhua, a 2003 graduate majoring in Securities Investment of the School of Finance, jointly unveiled the center.

Zheng Yali stated that the establishment of the Joint Center on Securities Research and Training is an important step for both universities to deepen scientific research cooperation in the field of finance and to promote collaborative education between industry, academia, and research. She expressed hope that the joint center will focus on five major areas including technology finance, green finance, inclusive finance, pension finance, and digital finance, and actively engage in international cooperation in areas such as research projects, achievement transformation, and talent training.

During the visit, the British delegation held a symposium with faculty and student representatives of ZUFE. They also toured campus facilities, including the School History Museum, the Library of Sun YefangEconomic Science Award, and the Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel. Additionally, the delegation visited Zhejiang Tonghuashun Internet Technology Co., Ltd., one of ZUFE’s partner enterprises.
