The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) recently hosted an event titled “the Belt and Road, Mutual Assitance and Growth” in Shanghai, bringing together youth in China, Kenya, and Mongolia to discuss sustainable development. Dr. Pilar de la corte Molina, deputy representative of UNFPA Kenya Office, Ms. Ovunaa Lkhagvasuren, assistant representative of UNFPA Mongolia Office, and Mr. Peng Jiong, assistant representative of UNFPA China Office, delivered speeches. He Yiqi, a member of faculty of ZUFE’s health center, and Chen Jiayi, a Grade 2023 student major in Social Work of the Law School attended the event with over 70 youth representatives from China, Kenya, Mongolia, the US, and Canada.

During the Youth Dialogue, youth representitives from China, Kenya, and Mongolia engaged in lively and in-depth talks on global issues like social welfare, environmental protection, health education, and humanistic care. He Yiqi presided over the meeting and shared Hangzhou’s experience in youth health education. He emphasized that universities should be the main platform, embracing the philosophy of “Youth Engagement and Youth Service.” By establishing volunteer organizations and training relevant tutors and volunteers, projects in sexual and reproductive health can be effectively promoted.

UNFPA project officers, officials of China Family Planning Association and provincial/municipal family planning associations, and youth representatives from various countries visited the the family of Hangzhou Family Planning Association Members. Chen Jiayi assisted in introducing the venue. She presented its design concept and demonstrated interactive device usage, receiving widespread praise from officials and youth representatives.

This event centered on promoting better growth and sustainable development for adolescents and youth worldwide. It anticipated that youth cooperation across cultures could offer diverse solutions to youth issues. This event not only presented the representatives of ZUFE’s faculty and students with an international perspective but also identified the direction for ZUFE’s health education. Next, ZUFE’s health center will keep advancing health education and providing continuous health services to all faculty and students.
