On the morning of January 23, Wang Hao, secretary of the Zhejiang Provincial Committee of CPC and director of the Standing Committee of the Zhejiang Provincial People’s Congress, surveyed the progress of university infrastructure quality improvement in Hangzhou. He emphasized that it is necessary to thoroughly study and implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speech during his inspection in Zhejiang and his important expositions on higher education. In accordance with the decision-making and deployment of the Zhejiang Provincial Party Committee, we should promote the implementation of various tasks of the project for improving the infrastructure of universities with perseverance, and grasp the construction of high-level universities with the principle of “one university, one strategy”. We should give full play to the important role of high-level universities in the integrated reform and development of education, science and technology, and talents, and steadily promote the construction of Zhejiang a province strong in education ,science and technology, and talents, so as to provide strong intellectual and talent support for the construction of a demonstration zone for common prosperity with high-quality development.
Wang Hao visited the Xiaosha Campus of ZUFE and the China Institute of Regulation Research and Public Policy. He learned about the construction of the first batch of Key Research Center of Philosophy and Social Sciences of Zhejiang Province, the new type key professional think tank, and talent cultivation. Wang emphasized that discipline development is the core competitiveness of universities. It is essential to closely combine national needs, future orientations, Zhejiang’s capabilities, and universitys’ strengths. Key Research Center of Philosophy and Social Sciences of Zhejiang Province focus on distinctive features and leverage comparative advantages. He called for building solid foundations and creating pinnacles of excellence by focusing efforts on developing advantageous disciplines, thereby promoting high-quality, connotative development universities. To maximize talents’ role in education, science, and talent reform, respect personal choices, adopt flexible policies to break mobility bottlenecks, empower talents, and unlock their full potential for innovation and creativity. At the student living quarters, Wang Hao inspected the hot water system and infrastructure improvement, stressing high-standard construction, quality supervision, and better learning and living conditions for students.
Wang Hao emphasized accelerating the high-quality development of high-level universities. He urged adherence to an inclusive development path, vigorous recruitment and cultivation of top-tier talents, and focused efforts on developing distinctive and advantageous disciplines. The aim is to develop more national first-class disciplines and boost the competitiveness and influence of Zhejiang’s universities. We should give full play to the important role of universities in the integrated development of science, education, and human resources. Focusing on the construction of the “415X” advanced manufacturing industry cluster and the “315” scientific and technological innovation system, we should steadily promote the deep and organic integration of the innovation chain and the industrial chain. We should guide universities, scientific research institutions, and enterprises to closely cooperate, jointly refine scientific and technological issues in response to industrial needs, and carry out joint scientific research and tackling of key problems, so as to enable more scientific research achievements to move out of the laboratory and into the market.
