On October 8, ZUFE hosted the opening ceremony for the 2024 cohort of international students. A total of 256 students from Russia, Morocco, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, and other countries gathered to embark on a new chapter of “Study at ZUFE” filled with hope and challenges as new members of ZUFE community. Attending the ceremony were Vice President Zheng Yali, along with heads of related functional departments, deans of various schools, faculty representatives, and international student counselors.
In her speech, Zheng Yali extended a warm welcome and heartfelt congratulations to all the freshmen. She stated that ZUFE is entering a new phase of development, full of opportunities and progress. She shared three key expectations for the students: 1) Embrace Communication and Cultural Exchange—Actively participate in cross-cultural interactions, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of diverse cultures. 2) Stay Dedicated and Strive for Excellence—Commit to academic advancement, overcome language barriers, and acquire specialized knowledge in finance and economics while adapting to life in China. 3). Stay True to Your Original Aspirations and Dare to Practice. Make full use of ZUFE’s high-quality educational resources and excellent learning environment while contributing positively to society, upholding shared values, and promoting the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.
Heads of the School of International Education and Studies, the School of Finance, the School of Management, the School of Economics, the School of Foreign Languages, and the School of Arts also expressed their warm welcome to all the freshmen. They encouraged the freshmen to make the most of this valuable educational experience, fulfill their ambitions at ZUFE, and unlock their full potential.
LINN WINNIE LINN, the freshmen representative from Myanmar, shared her excitement about embarking on her academic journey at ZUFE. She spoke of the welcoming atmosphere, the dedication of faculty and peers, and the inspiring environment here. She hopes to seize every opportunity to learn, surpass herself, and shape a bright future.
The ceremony also honored outstanding international students who were awarded scholarships, including the 2023-2024 International Student Merit Scholarship, the 2023-2024 Zhejiang Provincial Government Scholarship for International Students, and the 2024-2025 International Student Special Scholarship. The awardees were encouraged to continue striving for excellence and to set a commendable example for Grade 2024 students.
The event featured captivating performances by senior international students, including a heartfelt poetry recitation titled China Under the Moonlight (月光下的中国), an exuberant dance performance called Angels, and a resonant chorus of With Me (有我). These performances showcased a vibrant fusion of diverse national cultures, allowing the freshmen to experience the warmth of the international community and the richness of cultural exchange. The ceremony concluded in a joyful and inspiring atmosphere, marking the start of an exciting academic journey for the Grade 2024 international freshmen at ZUFE, setting the stage for them to chart their dreams and aspirations.
