12 faculty members and students from California State University, Northridge, arrived at ZUFE to embark on a week-long cultural exchange journey from December 18 to 26. Vice President Zheng Yali was invited to the opening ceremony of the “Discover Zhejiang” China-U.S. Youth Cultural Exchange Camp and delivered a welcome speech. Heads of the International Office, School of International Education & Studies and the School of Management, as well as some faculty and students of ZUFE, participated in the event.

On behalf of ZUFE, Zheng Yali warmly welcomed the participants of the event. She also pointed out that ZUFE had planned and prepared this event carefully in advance. The event not only merged traditional Chinese cultural elements such as Chinese painting and calligraphy, Hanfu (traditional Chinese attire), and paper cutting but also incorporated Zhejiang economic elements like Geely and Master Kong, featuring an in-depth experience, practical exchanges, and idealistic collisions. This event aimed to deepen participants’ understanding of Zhejiang and cultivate them as ambassadors of China-U.S. cultural exchange, cultural bridges, and future leaders.

This event consists of various activities that allow participants to experience the unique charm of Chinese culture. They visited West Lake Yaji on Hubin Road, where they appreciated the beautiful landscape of the West Lake, felt the essence of Chinese calligraphy and painting, learned the combination of softness and hardness in martial arts, appreciated the delicacy of Chinese traditional craftsmanship of lacquer fans, and embraced the elegance and solemnity of Chinese traditional attire.

Participants also visited renowned companies such as Geely and Master Kong to learn the development and innovative achievements of Zhejiang’s digital economy. They also toured Jiangdong Village in Qiantang District to admire the development of China’s beautiful countryside. The most impressive part was the corporate decision-making simulation, in which American participants engaged in ERP-based business operations modeling for Chinese enterprises. Participants not only gained more profound understanding of the development of China’s enterprises but also fostered China-U.S. friendships and acquired practical experience.

Participants said it’s a precious and unforgettable tour full of diverse curricula and activities. These courses and activities fully immersed them, leaving them with abundant gains. The unique charm of traditional Chinese culture lingered in their minds, while the development of Chinese rural areas and modern enterprises further broadened their international horizons. Such experience will nurture the friendship, bridge different cultures and lay a solid foundation for the communication and collaboration in the future between China and America. We welcome all American youth to come to ZUFE to jointly explore the charms of different cultures and promote greater cultural exchanges.
