On September 11, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, delivered a speech to the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences during his state visit to China. Professor Muhong Yu, Dean of the School of International Education and Studies of ZUFE, was invited to attend President Tokayev’s speech and was cordially interviewed by President Tokayev. During the period, Professor Yu also accepted an exclusive interview by a reporter of China International Television.
President Tokayev spoke highly of Kazakhstan-China relations in his speech. He emphasized that in the new historical period, Kazakhstan and China should continue to be firmly committed to promoting a comprehensive strategic partnership. China is one of Kazakhstan's nearest neighbors. The people of the two countries have always been friendly and the Kazakhstan-China relationship enjoys a long history. As the ancient Chinese proverb puts it, "a good neighbor is better than a brother far off." Through the ancient Silk Road, Kazakhstan and China have not only conducted trade, but also exchanged ideas and knowledge.
In recent years, the university has maintained friendly cooperation with Kazakhstan in many aspects, and more and more Kazakh students have come to study at ZUFE. In 2018, ZUFE actively responded to the Belt and Road Initiative and established the Kazakhstan Economic and Social Research Center. The Center focuses on five aspects: China-Kazakhstan economic comparison, China-Kazakhstan financial comparison, China-Kazakhstan law comparison, China-Kazakhstan agricultural land and urban development comparison, and China-Kazakhstan language and culture comparison, aiming to build the first domestic academic platform focusing on Kazakhstan economic research.
