Number of ZUFE Undergraduates Going to Overseas Prestigious Universities for Master’s Degree Hit a New Record in 2019

On June 26, Zhejiang University of Economics and Finance held the 2019 scholarship Assessment and Review Meeting for undergraduates going to foreign elite universities for the master’s degree. Jianxin Huang, Deputy Secretary of the university’s Party Committee, presided over the meeting and delivered a speech. The heads of relevant departments and leaders in charge of student work of this school attended the meeting.

Mr. Huang pointed out that this year, the number of undergraduates going to overseas prestigious universities for the master’s degree has increased significantly. The next step was for the students to apply for both domestic and foreign universities, with the number and quality of the undergraduates balanced, as well as differences in professions. By means of the incentive of policies, more students would be admitted into domestic World First Class universities such as Qinghua University and Peking University in order to achieve a breakthrough in the admittance into the top five universities in the world. In the near future, there will be more students studying in such universities as Harvard, Stanford, Cambridge, and Oxford.

At the meeting, the requirements for the evaluation, procedures, and application related to scholarships were introduced. Participants reviewed the application materials and other basic information, determining the list of winners for the 2019 undergraduate scholarship for postgraduates studying at prestigious universities abroad. In addition, they also discussed the “RequirementsforZhejiang UniversityofFinance and EconomicsonUndergraduates Scholarshipforthe Master's Degree at Foreign Prestigious Universities”(Draft for comments).

In 2019, the number of applicants and winners of undergraduate scholarships for postgraduate study at prestigious universities abroad had a comparatively higher rate of growth than that of last year, with a total of the first prize for one student, the second prizes 12, and outstanding prizes 213 selected. Among them, 20 students (accounting for 8.8%) were admitted into the top ten elite universities in the world, 46 (20%) to the top 15 and 60 (26.5%) to the top 20. One student was admitted into the University of Chicago in the US, eleven into Columbia University in the US, eight into the University of London in the UK, fifteen into Johns Hopkins University in the US, eight into Singapore National University, and three into Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.
