Wind power is becoming more and more popular, but when does the wind come and at what speed? Recently, this question was answered on a theoretical basis in an all-English paper written by a graduate student in the first academic year from the School of Information Management and Engineering of Zhejiang University of Finance and Economics (ZUFE) under the guidance of his supervisors. This paper was also published in Energy Conversion and Management, a SCI-TOP journal of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
Yong Chen, the first author of the paper, was an undergraduate majoring in computer science and technology, and became a graduate student of ZUFE last September, studying management statistics. His master's research is oriented towards the use of deep learning technology applied to time series forecasting. During the six months after he became a graduate, he started writing this thesis under the guidance of his two supervisors Shuai Zhang and Wenyu Zhang. After Chen’s completing the first draft, the two supervisors then carefully provided guidance, revised the thesis and organized the logic and grammar of the writing. After repeated revisions, it took more than one month to complete the entire paper with a total of more than 30 pages.
“Mr. Chen is the first student at ZUFE who can publish such a high-level paper within six months since the enrollment, which is not easy.” His supervisor, Mr. Zhang, said affirmatively.
Besides, Mr. Chen has also published a 1B paper in an SCI Zone IV journal. “I believe as long as you are earnest and work hard enough, you can make achievements in academic research,” Mr. Chen perceived.
