ZUFE Establishes the First Nobel Prize in Economics Workstation in Zhejiang Province

March 30, 2018 marked the signing and unveiling ceremony of the first Nobel Prize in Economics Workstation in Zhejiang Province at the Xiasha Campus of ZUFE.

Jinchang Li, Secretary of the Party Committee of ZUFE, met with Professor Eric Maskin, Nobel Laureate in Economics and member of the National Academy of Sciences, and extended a warm welcome to the guests.

Professor Eric Maskin, President Xiaomin Zhong, Vice President Jianxin Huang, the heads of functional departments and units as well as representatives of faculty and students attended the signing and unveiling ceremony.

Mr. Zhong introduced the university's situation in talent cultivation, discipline construction, and international exchange. He said that the establishment of the workstation provides an important platform for the development of large projects, cultivation of high-level talents, and scientific and technological cooperation and exchanges. He hoped that both sides could further strengthen communication and exchanges in the future.

Prof. Maskin expressed his gratitude to the university for the warm reception. He said that the establishment of the workstation has laid a good foundation for the cooperation between the two sides, and that he will visit ZUFE regularly in the future to carry out substantive cooperation and exchanges with ZUFE.

Afterwards, Mr. Zhong, Xiaohong Zhang, Dean of the China Academy of Financial Research (CAFR), and Prof. Maskin unveiled the "ZUFE Nobel Prize in Economics Workstation" and "Eric Maskin Workstation of CAFR" respectively. Prof. Maskin and Mr. Zhang signed an agreement on the joint building of "ZUFE Nobel Prize in Economics Workstation" on behalf of both sides, which marks that both parties will carry out comprehensive and multi-level long-term cooperation.

Prof. Maskin also visited CAFR and the Nobel Prize in Economics Library, and gave a lecture on "Mechanism Design Theory and Frontiers of Modern Economics" for teachers and students.

The establishment of the workstation is a milestone in the development history of ZUFE, which will give full play to the leading role of Nobel Prize winners in research, effectively activate ZUFE's research resource, and enrich the collection of the Nobel Prize in Economics Library; in the meantime, it will further promote the construction of the think tank of CAFR, and build an innovation platform that integrates top scientific research, high-quality social service, and high-level talent training.
