On July 17, the 14th National Student Games came to an end in Qingdao, Shandong Province. ZUFE again won the "Principal Cup," which represented the highest honor of the National Student Games, ranking 22nd among colleges and universities in China. It was also the only university of its kind to win the cup this year.
The Principal Cup is the highest award for the comprehensive evaluation of performance in sports among colleges and universities nationwide. It is awarded every four years to higher colleges and universities for their outstanding achievements in physical education, scientific research, competitions, and promoting physical fitness for college students in recent years. It is designed to encourage colleges and universities to continue to serve as a role model for and lead other higher education institutions to carry on with their work in this respect.
A total of 33 delegations - about 7,200 athletes from across the country -- participated in the sports meet, with its scale and the number of participants both reaching a record high. ZUFE sent 14 athletes to participate in three events--swimming, table tennis, and badminton, and finally won one gold medal, three silver medals, and four bronze medals.
