Recently, the results of the 7th Contemporary Undergraduate Statistics Contest in Modeling (CUSCM) for 2021 were announced, and ZUFE won three first prizes, two second prizes, three third prizes and five excellence prizes. Among them, two first prizes, two second prizes, one third prize and three excellence prizes were awarded to undergraduates, and one first prize, two third prizes and two excellence prizes to postgraduates.
The theme of this year’s event was “Statistical Measurement of New Data Drivers”. 1,800 teams from 245 higher-education institutions nationwide entered the contest. A total of 522 papers were selected for awards through two-way anonymous communication reviews, on-site evaluation, and defense presentation. Among them, there were 25 first prizes, 43 second prizes, 90 third prizes, and 159 excellence prizes in the undergraduate category, while in the graduate category there were 15 first prizes, 30 second prizes, 60 third prizes, and 100 excellence prizes.
The CUSCM was jointly held by the China Society for Statistics Education and the National Steering Committee for Postgraduate Education in Applied Statistics. It is an event of statistics skill application for undergraduates and postgraduates in higher education institutions across the country. The event is designed to advocate an atmosphere of learning and applying statistics among college students, attract more attention to high-interest issues concerning economy and society, improve the ability of college students in data mining, data analytics, applying statistical methods and computer programming skills to process data, and boost the reform and modernization of statistics.
