The national final of the China Mobile Cup English Star Contest for the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022 was held online from March 26 to 28. After fierce competition, students from the School of International Education and Studies of Zhejiang University of Finance and Economics clinched huge success. Mu Jin, a student from Zambia, won third place in the International Group. Mouna from Morocco won the first prize; Aleksandr from Russia and Alexandra from Kazakhstan won the third price.
Jointly held by Hangzhou Asian Games Organising Committee, China Daily, and China Mobile, the contest attracted about 50,000 participants from over 30 countries all around the world with 400 students getting to the online national final. The national final consisted of three parts. The first part was an English speech contest themed “Life Shines on Life” and Q & A; the second part was an English speech contest themed “All things are ready if our minds be so” and Q & A; and the last part was a role play based on the Asian Games and English talent show.
The English Star Contest not only provides an opportunity for students abroad who have great passion for sports and English to introduce sportsmanship to the world, but also facilitates cultural exchange so as to forge the image of China in a more comprehensive and authentic way.
