Recently, the final of the 8th National Statistical Modeling Competition for College Students took place in Chengdu. Dong Jincai, a member of the ZUFE Party Committee and vice-president of ZUFE, attended the closing ceremony and received the flag of the next competition on behalf of ZUFE. After fierce competition, all of the the three teams from ZUFE, including one undergraduate team and two postgraduate teams, won the first prize.
With the theme of "Statistical Measurement for Building a New Development Paradigm", the competition has attracted 8,607 teams from 514 universities and colleges across China since its start in late March, with the total number of participants reaching 26,000. After selection and recommendation, 5,760 teams handed in their papers for the competition, including 4,006 undergraduate teams and 1,754 postgraduate teams. The competition was held both online and offline under the pandemic prevention rules.
The National Statistical Modeling Competition for College Students is jointly held by the Statistical Education Society of China, the Education Steering Committee for Statistics in Higher Education Institutions of the Chinese Ministry of Education, and the National MAS Education Steering Committee, which is one of the most influential competitions of statistics in China.
