On March 8th, Zhejiang University of Finance and Economics (ZUFE) held a farewell ceremony for its first group of students visiting the University of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (UCASS) and an award ceremony for the Zhejiang Research Institute special scholarship at the Xiasha Campus. The event was attended by ZUFE’s Party Committee secretary, Li Jinchang, Vice Party Committee Secretary and President, Zhong Xiaomin, Vice Party Committee Secretary, Yu Jiansen, UCASS’ Party Committee member and Vice President, Zhang Bin, and other leaders from relevant departments and schools.
During the event, Party Committee Secretary Li Jinchang highlighted the importance of visiting programs for students. He mentioned that these programs offer a unique opportunity to broaden students' horizons, boost their motivation to learn, enhance their skill set in learning new things, and elevate their competitiveness. He encouraged the students to remain true to their original aspirations, stay rooted in the fertile land of Zhejiang, and commit themselves to finding practical solutions. He also urged them to take on the responsibility of better presenting China’s stories, conducting research for the betterment of society, and delving deep into complex issues. He wished the students a fruitful visit and looked forward to welcoming them back.
President Zhong Xiaomin acknowledged that the visit to UCASS is fundamental to ZUFE’s mode of cultivating interdisciplinary talent, which emphasizes a focus on problem-solving, project-based learning, interdisciplinary integration, and co-mentorship. He encouraged the students to embody the principles of “Discrimination, Diligence, Reflection, and Practice” during their academic journey at Zhejiang Research Institute.
In his video speech, UCASS Party Committee member and Vice President, Zhang Bin, congratulated the visiting students and award winners, emphasizing the importance of the cooperative education between the two universities. He shared his sincere expectations for the visiting students and wished them an unforgettable and rewarding learning experience.
During the event, the leaders presented certificates of honor to students who received the 2021-2022 special scholarships. Additionally, the establishment of temporary Party and Youth League branches in Beijing for the Zhejiang University of Finance and Economics Research Institute was announced, and flags were given to visiting student representatives.
Starting on March 11, a group of 26 postgraduates and doctoral students majoring in public finance, industrial economics, economics of regulation, taxation, and finance will travel to UCASS for a four-month visiting program. During their visit, they will participate in course studies, conduct research projects, write theses, and receive internships with the guidance of the university’s cooperative mentors.
