Time:January 31, 2023  clicks:

This year, to give international students a happy and peaceful Spring Festival holiday, many universities in Hangzhou organized a variety of cultural experience activities, allowing international students to enjoy the Chinese New Year.

ZUFE’s international students visited Yanlan Community, Xiasha Sub-District, and left their blessings for the New Year and their wishes for the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022 in 2023 through the cameras. There is a verse in China that goes, The rising sun sheds light on doors of each household, and new peachwood charm is put up to replace the old. Together with the residents of the Community, those students wrote down the character , which means good luck, cut window flowers, wrote couplets, and experienced DIY marshmallow. Although this is not the first time Kali (Chinese name: Chunsheng) from Kazakhstan attended such an activity, she went straight to the booth and wrote down her best wishes of “吉星永照平安宅,五福常临积善家”(Good luck is welcomed by families with peace, a perfect and happy life is always brought to the home of virtue) due to her keen interest in Chinese calligraphy.

Moreover, the teachers of ZUFE’s School of International Education and Studies also brought the international students to the the Southern Song Dynasty Deshou Palace Ruins Museum to savor the taste of the culture of the Song Dynasty. Dressed in costumes of Song Dynasty, teachers and students strolled in the palaces and gardens, appreciating the map of Thousands of Miles of Mountains and Rivers and houses in ancient times as if they could engage in a dialogue with our ancestors.

In addition, universities such as China Jiliang University, Zhejiang Sci-Tech University, and Hangzhou Dianzi University also organized and invited international students to celebrate the “Chinese New Year.” Learning to make dumplings has become a favorite activity for international students. Everyone, amid laughter and joy, worked together to wrap their wishes for the New Year and hopes for life into small dumplings.
