The 21st National University Athletics Championships was held in Hefei, the capital city of Anhui province, from August 9 to 15. Under the guidance of two coaches, Wu Yan and Zhao Lingqiang, ZUFE's athletic team achieved outstanding results with three gold and one silver medals, ranking fourth overall score of Group A. ZUFE received the title of "Sportsmanship Award". Wu Yan and Zhao Lingqiang were honored as "Outstanding Coaches," and Chen Shu'ang “"Outstanding Athlete."
Notably, Chen Shu'ang, a graduate student from the Law School of the Class of 2022, won the championship in three events, including the 400m, 400m hurdles, and mixed 4×400m relay in this competition. His performance in the 400m event reached the standard of a first-class athlete, only 0.35 seconds short of a sportsman! He is not only the first-class athlete of the ZUFE's athletic team but also the first student athlete in ZUFE to win a national championship in an individual event.
This championships consisted of four categories: Group A (Sunshine Group), Group B (Vocational Group), Group C (High-level Group), and Group D (Super Group). It set over 80 events for men and women, including sprints, long-distance running, hurdles, relays, high jump, long jump, shot put, discus throw, javelin throw, hammer throw, and decathlon, attracting more than 4,800 athletes and coaches from over 390 universities nationwide. The number of participating universities and individuals set a historical record. ZUFE sent 10 excellent athletes to participate in the competition.
