ZUFE and Kazakhstan’s Almaty Management University (AMU) held a signing ceremony on June 21 in Almaty to establish the “Silk Road School”. The initiative aims to implement high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, advance educational collaboration, economic and trade exchanges, and cultural ties between Zhejiang Province and Kazakhstan, while contributing Zhejiang’s new pattern of high-level opening-up.

Qiu Qiwen, a member of the Standing Committee of the Zhejiang Provincial Party Committee and secretary-general, Jiang Wei, consul general of China in Almaty, Karaghemetov, chairman of the University Council of Almaty Management University, Kulenkojeva, president of Almaty Management University, Wei Jiang, vice president (leading executive work) of ZUFE and deputy secretary of its Party Committee, attended the event and delivered speeches. Over 80 representatives from both universities, including faculty and students, participated in the event.

Participants highlighted that China-Kazakhstan relations has embarked on a new “Golden Thirty Years,” with robust cooperation across sectors, particularly in education. Zhejiang, as the starting point of the Maritime Silk Road, has firmly implemented “the Belt and Road Initiative” for 11 years, continuously deepening and solidifying the communication and cooperation between Zhejiang and Kazakhstan. The “Silk Road School” is positioned as a flagship platform for Zhejiang’s Belt and Road educational services. It is hoped that both universities will leverage the universities’ strengths in talent cultivation, vocational training, policy consultation, and cultural exchanges to accelerate project implementation and contribute to high-quality development in both countries and “the Belt and Road Initiative”.

The guests jointly unveiled the plaque for the Sino-Kazakhstan “Silk Road School”. Wei Jiang and Kulenkojeva signed the agreement for the joint establishment of the “Silk Road School” on behalf of respective universities.
Kazakhstan was the first country to embrace “the Belt and Road Initiative”, and Almaty serves as a historic crossroads connecting Asia and Europe on the ancient Silk Road. As Kazakhstan’s first business school and Central Asia’s only AMBA-accredited institution, AMU enjoys a strong international reputation. The Silk Road School will integrate the two universities’ academic strengths to promote cross-border industry-education collaboration in business and economics, build an international platform for “Business Management + Vocational Skills + Chinese Language” education, and cultivate versatile talents proficient in trade, language, and intercultural communication for Zhejiang enterprises expanding globally.

During the event, ZUFE also launched a “Silk Road E-Commerce Training Program” at AMU, attracting over 40 participants from local enterprises and universities, generating positive feedback.
The heads of ZUFE’s International Office, International College, Party and Government Office, Graduate School, School of Management, and School of Economics, as well as faculty from the School of Information, Technology, and Intelligence and the School of Foreign Languages, attended the event.
