To further enhance the internationalization of school running and extend the reach of alumni network overseas, Shen Tuli, a member of ZUFE’s Party Committe and secretary of Dongfang College’s Party Committe, was invited to lead a delegation on a visit to Japan from June 18 to 22. During the visit, Shen and her colleagues had exchanges with representatives from Kyushu Foreign Language Academy (KFLA), Nishogakusha University, Kyoto College of Graduate Studies for Informatics (KCG) and other colleges, and successfully founded the first overseas alumni association for Dongfang College. The heads of related functional departments and teaching units of the college participated in the visit together.

At KFLA (Tokyo nihonbashi school), both parties agreed to enhance student development initiatives, establish scholarship and grant programs, and arrange mutual invitations for faculty lectures. At Nishogakusha University, focused discussions were held on nurturing students in Japanese and economics-related majors, as well as establishing regular faculty exchange visits, with a mutual decision to broaden the scope of their collaboration. At KCG, the two institutions have an in-depth exchange on the enrollment and nurturing aspects of their student exchange program and undergraduate-graduate 3+2 degree program, culminating in the signing of a cooperative agreement.

During its visit to Japan, Dongfang College convened the inaugural assembly of the ZUFE Dongfang College Japan Alumni Association. The gathering elected the inaugural leadership of the association, with Shen Chao, a Grade 2009 graduate majoring in Japanese, a doctoral candidate in Law at Teikyo University, and the head of the international department of Tesshokai Kameda Medical Center, as the first president. The alumni shared their experiences of working, studying, and growing in Japan and expressed their nostalgia and gratitude towards ZUFE. Shen Tuli presented Shen Chao with the flag of the association and expressed congratulations on its establishment. She emphasized the significance of the association as the college’s first overseas alumni association. As the alumni connected through their shared experience at Dongfang College, they are expected to support one another and grow together through the platform of the alumni association, set an example and provide valuable suggestions for the development of their alma mater with an international perspective.

The delegation also engaged in discussions with Dae-Hyun Kim, the chairperson of the Japan Co-operative Alliance (JCA), and Daisuke Ikki, a counselor, reaching a preliminary agreement on collaboration for Dongfang College’s paid internship program.

This exchange has strengthened the partnership between Dongfang College and Japanese institutions, building a platform for alumni studying, working, and starting businesses in Japan, as well as fostering deeper connections between alumni andZUFE. Dongfang College is committed to advancing its internationalization strategy, offering more high-quality international exchange opportunities, and propelling the college’s various initiatives to new heights.
