Yun Luo Qiantang Choir Achieves Success at the 1st Hong Kong International Choral Festival, Winning Two Gold Medals!

The first Hong Kong International Choral Festival and 2024 Hong Kong-Shenzhen International Choral Week concluded from October 1 to 5, 2024. The Yun Luo Qiantang Choir of ZUFE achieved remarkable success, winning Gold Prizes in both the Youth Choir (2) and the Mixed Voices Choir in the competition. The choir’s tutor, Li Jiayu was awarded the Outstanding Conductor Prize. The choir was also invited to perform at the festival’s opening concert and had the privilege of singing the national anthem of the People’s Republic of China at the award ceremony, celebrating China’s 75th anniversary.

After months of planning and preparation, rehearsal and training, Yun Luo Qiantang Chorus finally won the gold medals with Sing Gently, Beyond Nature (夺天工), Father Thunder and To the Tune of Joy of Eternal Union (永遇乐·京口北固亭怀古), which were unanimously acclaimed by domestic and international experts.

The first Hong Kong International Choral Festival and 2024 Hong Kong-Shenzhen International Choral Week is a grand international choral event jointly organized by the Publicity Department of the CPC of Nanshan District Committee of Shenzhen, the Hong Kong Musician Association, the China 21st Century Friendship Association, and the Beijing Poly Theatre Management Co., Ltd., with the Shenzhen Poly Theatre Performance Management Co., Ltd. serving as the host. Nearly 40 choirs from various countries and regions, including China, Hong Kong, Russia, and Thailand, participated in this five-day festival, which featured three concerts, four international events, numerous masterclasses, and public lectures, fostering regional musical and cultural exchanges.
