On October 15, the first China-Kazakhstan Economic and Social Cooperation Forum jointly organized by the Consulate General of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Shanghai and ZUFE was held on its Xiasha campus. Xilong Wang, professor of Lanzhou University and Gang Zhao, researcher of the Chinese Academy of Science and Technology for Development of China's Ministry of Science and Technology were invited to give keynote speeches respectively entitledKazakhstan's Socio-historical Cultureand "The Belt and Road" and China-Kazakhstan Cooperation in the Context of New Scientific and Technological Revolution. The forum was hosted by Professor Xinbo Lu, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the university.
In his report, Professor Wang introduced the development since the beginning of recorded history, ethnic composition, mineral and agricultural resources of Kazakhstan, as well as its language, culture, religious beliefs, and customs. The report, rich in content and illustrations, was not only a systematic and clear overview of the history of Kazakhstan and national development but also a wonderful display of the exotic flavors of Kazakhstan.
Then, with a large amount of detailed data, researcher Zhao introduced the level of scientific and technological development in today's world, especially in developed countries, and China's position. Besides, he proposed solutions and countermeasures for the current Sino-US trade friction and the development bottleneck controlled by others of China's key core technologies. He also presented Kazakhstan's "Bright Road" program and the path of China-Kazakhstan cooperation.
An academic seminar was also held during the forum. More than 40 experts, scholars, postdoctoral fellows, overseas students and entrepreneur representatives from Kazakhstan, Lanzhou University, Ministry of Science and Technology, Shanghai University of Political Science and Law, China National Language Translation Bureau and ZUFE conducted in-depth discussions and exchanges on the comparison and cooperation between China and Kazakhstan in economy, finance, law, agriculture, language and culture.
