The first International Symposium on Public Economic Theory and Applications was held at ZUFE’s Xiasha campus on November 4. The ceremony was held both offline and online. Yu Jiansen, Deputy Secretary of ZUFE’s Party Committee, addressed the opening ceremony. More than ten experts and scholars from prestigious universities such as Duke University in the United States, the University of Glasgow in the United Kingdom, National University of Singapore, University of Macau, Peking University, and University of Nottingham Ningbo attended the symposium.
Yu Jiansen provided an overview of ZUFE’s development history and achievements. He emphasized the importance of the international symposium in promoting academic exchanges and cooperation between ZUFE teachers and their international counterparts. He expressed his hope for in-depth discussions and experience sharing among experts and scholars on issues of common concern, with the goal of achieving joint improvement. Furthermore, he extended an invitation to overseas experts and scholars to visit ZUFE for further exchange after the pandemic.

Professor Daniel Yi Xu from Duke University in the United States delivered a keynote speech titled “Regulating Conglomerates in China,” while Professor Xiao Luo from the National University of Singapore presented on “Conditional Hypothesis Testing Systems under Non-Bayesian Updating.”
This symposium consisted of two parallel forums, i.e. “Public Policy and Innovation” and “Public Economic Theory.” During the event, experts and scholars jointly discussed cutting-edge theories and policy applications in public economics. The discussions centered around topics such as “R&D incentive policy design,” “environmental regulation design,” and “public finance and economic growth.”
