Time:October 8, 2025  clicks:

The 2025 “Cultural China: The Moon Is Brightest in One’s Hometown” Overseas Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival Gala, co-organized by the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of Zhejiang Provincial People’s Government, the Information Office of Zhejiang Provincial People’s Government, the Zhejiang Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, and Zhejiang Radio and Television Group—and produced by Zhejiang TV International Channel—was broadcast globally on October 6. Fifteen international students from our School of International Education, including DEMIDENKO EKATERINA, were invited to perform in the program “Dance of the Golden Snake.”

This innovative performance fused three traditional Chinese elements: the intangible cultural heritage of Snake Boxing, Chinese folk music, and silk ribbon dance. DEMIDENKO EKATERINA and fellow students performed the silk ribbon dance, offering a cross-cultural reinterpretation of Chinese artistry that sparked a unique synergy between tradition and global expression.

Guided by the educational philosophy of “Understanding China, Excelling in Specialization, Convergent Integration,” the School of International Education deeply integrates the practice of China’s fine traditional culture into all aspects of talent cultivation. In its curriculum, it offers courses such as Chinese Culture, Chinese History, and Appreciation of Chinese Literary Classics. Through experiential activities, it has developed the “Understanding Zhejiang” series of national conditions education programs and established over ten national conditions education bases in collaboration with institutions like the China National Silk Museum. Moving forward, the school will further align cultural practice with its disciplinary strengths in finance and economics, leveraging internship bases and specialized research platforms to help international students enhance their cross-cultural competence in financial and economic services—nurturing well-rounded, culturally literate, and professionally capable talents who understand and appreciate China.
