As time goes by and sweet osmanthus fragrance fills the air in late autumn, Zhejiang University of Finance and Economics (ZUFE) held the 2025 Alumni Homecoming at its Xiasha Campus on November 1. from far and wide, gathering at their alma mater to recall old days and envision a bright future together.
The Anniversary Alumni Reunion Ceremony commenced at 10 a.m. at the Puhua Grand Theatre. Wei Jiang, Secretary of the Party Committee and President of ZUFE, Li Zhanrong, Vice President, Xu Xiaodong and Cheng Shuang, Deputy Secretaries of the Party Committee, as well as Shen Tuli, Member of the Party Committee, Director of the Organization Department and Secretary of the Party Committee of Dongfang College, attended the ceremony. Also present were heads of functional departments, deans and Party secretaries of all schools, leaders in charge of alumni affairs, members of the Alumni Association Council, class representatives of the graduating classes of 1985, 1995, 2005 and 2015, together with faculty and student representatives.
On behalf of the university, Wei Jiang extended a warm welcome and sincere greetings to all returning alumni. He noted that “pursuing virtue, cultivating morality and keeping pace with the times”, ZUFE is steadily striving to build itself into a first-class university of finance and economics with distinctive features. Over the past 51 years, the university has enjoyed sustained development. In recent years, ZUFE has been listed among universities for the development of a high-level university. Applied Economics has been approved as a Summit Advanced Discipline, and two additional first-level discipline doctoral programs have been established, completing the full layout of doctoral programs in economics and management disciplines. The admission scores for undergraduate programs have risen against the trend, with the lowest admission ranking moving up more than 20,000 places year on year. The university has also obtained the qualification for recommending undergraduate students for postgraduate studies. In terms of infrastructure, the property right of Xiasha Ziyuan Residential Area has been successfully reclaimed, and the construction of the Northeast Complex (Wangchao Building) is steadily underway. In the next two years, the university plans to invest over 500 million yuan in dormitory renovation and overall campus environment upgrading.
“The university takes the greatest pride in your growth and sense of responsibility,” Wei Jiang stressed. More than 200,000 ZUFE alumni excel in their respective posts, which demonstrates the university’s achievements in talent cultivation. Alumni have continuously supported the development of the alma mater by setting up scholarships, building practical training bases, and assisting with enrollment promotion and graduate recruitment. In 2025, the university, together with alumni-owned enterprises, held 3 general job fairs, 12 industry-specific job fairs and over 130 special recruitment seminars, and carried out more than 200 enterprise visits to expand job channels for students.
Looking ahead, Wei Jiang stated that the university will work with alumni to forge three communities. First, the university should build a warm emotional community bonded by shared memories, and further improve the alumni organization network. Second, we should establish a mutually beneficial reputation community based on remarkable achievements, optimize the alumni honor system, and spread ZUFE’s voice worldwide via the website-journal-account media matrix. Third, we should create a forward-looking development community focused on the future, strengthen the docking between disciplinary strengths and industrial resources, boost coordinated development of alumni and the university, and foster a new ecosystem featuring joint growth and shared prosperity.
Warm applause and sincere friendship permeated the venue. When alumni representatives presented flowers to their former teachers, the simple greetings of “Hello, teacher” and “Please come back often” instantly evoked cherished youthful memories among all attendees, touching every heart.
Wei Jiang presented the 11th Peach and Plum Medal for Outstanding ZUFE Alumni to nine alumni on site. Among the recipients are cadres supporting border areas and public servants committed to work in Western Hunan. Wherever they are, they strive for progress, pursue innovation, surpass themselves and give back to society, embodying the spirit of ZUFE. These honors, like streams converging into a sea, reflect the finest demeanor of all ZUFE people.
Li Zhanrong and Xu Xiaodong awarded plaques to enterprises of the 6th ZUFE Elite Enterprises alumni program, calling on more ZUFE graduates to take on responsibilities, forge ahead and thrive in the business world.
Cheng Shuang and Shen Tuli presented plaques to families selected for the 6th ZUFE Distinguished Alumni Families program. The honor pays tribute not only to the heritage of individual families, but also to the powerful collective strength of the big ZUFE family.
Wu Zifu, graduate of the Taxation major in 1985 and President of Zhejiang Haers Vacuum Vessel Co., Ltd., delivered a speech titled Our Years with Taxation, recalling his extraordinary journey from academic study to corporate management.
Du Feilei, graduate of the Finance major in 2005 and Founding Partner of Zhejiang Yinwan Private Equity Fund Management Co., Ltd., shared his reflections in the speech Looking Back on My Four Years of Investment Studies, illustrating how he has devoted himself to the private equity sector to serve the society and people.
The poetry recitation In the Name of ZUFE was performed in a warm atmosphere. Luo Guofang (Class of 1985), Yao Zhen (Class of 1995), Gao Jiamin (Class of 2005), Mao Yuhua (Class of 2015), together with 18 student representatives, stood side by side and took a solemn oath: In the name of ZUFE, we uphold our original aspiration and embrace the promise for the future. The heartfelt recitation, tinged with excitement, united voices across four decades and ignited the enthusiasm of the whole audience.
A mission inheritance launching ceremony was held during the event. University leaders and the four alumni representatives lit the Mission Inheritance Sphere together, marking this glorious moment.
The campus was filled with friendship and best wishes amid the return of alumni. A series of activities were held, including the official inauguration of Yaowang laboratory, the presentation of various student aid and contribution awards, keynote speeches by outstanding alumni, and friendly tennis matches. These well-organized events allowed alumni to fully experience the alma mater’s development and vitality. Featured activities arranged by each school also brought back precious memories for alumni.
Moments of joy are frozen in frames, and sincere friendship is preserved through years. May all alumni embrace a brilliant future. ZUFE will always stand here and wait for your next homecoming. Looking forward to our reunion with smiles as bright as ever.
