The School of Information Management and Artificial Intelligence, formerly known as the Department of Economic Information Management, was established in 1987. It is one of the schools with a long history in Zhejiang University of Finance and Economics (ZUFE). The school offers 4 undergraduate programs, including Information Management and Information Systems, Artificial Intelligence, Electronic Commerce, and Software Engineering. Besides, it offers one first-level postgraduate program in Management Science and Engineering, covering two sub-disciplines: Management Science and Engineering. The school is now home to more than 1200 full-time undergraduate students and postgraduate students. Information Management and Information System, Electronic Commerce and Software Engineering have been selected as first-class provincial construction undergraduate programs of Zhejiang province. In 2020,Engineering scoredthe top 1% of ESI (Essential Science Indicators) of global universities and research institutions, and Management Science and Engineering was ranked the 60th (top 26% in China) of "Academic Ranking of China's Best Disciplines."
The faculty team consists of 62 full-time teachers, including 39 professors. Among the teachers, 79% (49) haveobtained a Ph.D.degree. In the past five years (2016-2020), the school staff have made great achievements in the fields of data science and intelligent decision-making, intelligent supply chain and complex system management, business intelligence and Internet finance, industrial engineering and management, etc. They have established 37 national-level research projects, 49 provincial and ministerial-level projects, 41 horizontal projects in enterprises and institutions, Up to now, the staff have won 3 provincial and ministerial prizes and published 220 SCI/SSCI-indexed papers (including 131 JCR Zone I papers and 7 ESI highly cited papers) in high-level international journals, which have enhanced the influence in academic circles at home and abroad.
Our school has excellent conditions for practice activities, with a laboratory area of nearly 4,800 square meters and a total of more than 13 million yuan equipment value. This school was approved as one of the first batch of pilotuniversitiesin the project of "AI+ Wisdom Learning" by the Ministry of Education, and the experiment center of our school is the Provincial Key Construction Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center in the 13th "Five-Year Plan". Our school continues to strengthen international exchange and cooperation, and has established exchange programs in various forms with famous foreign universities like Loughborough University of Britain and University of Oulu of Finland. Every year Texas State University sends more than 30 students to our campus to join our summer courses and receive credits acclaimed by the U.S. side.
We endeavor to prepare our students for the job market, and every year many graduates are employed by famous Internet and IT giants such as Microsoft, Alibaba, Tencent and Baidu. And some of them go to work as specialized technical talents in financial companies or government departments about finance, public finance and taxation. Many graduates of our school have been admitted to graduate schools of King’s College London, Bristol University, University of Southern California, the University of Sydney, Peking University, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Zhejiang University, Nanjing University, Fudan University and other famous universities at home and abroad.
