The Schoolof Data Sciences now offers 4 undergraduate programs, namely: Economic Statistics, Applied Statistics, Financial Mathematics, Data Science & Big Data Technology. The School has one second-level discipline for doctoral degree of Economic Statistics, one first-level discipline for master's degree of Statistics and one professional master's degree programin AppliedStatistics. Statistics is one of the first-class disciplines (Class A) and the key disciplines of Zhejiang Province; Economic Statistics is a leading discipline of the National First-Class Undergraduate Construction Base and of the 13th Five Year Plan of Zhejiang Province. There are also research fields of Socio-economic Statistics, Mathematical Statistics, Financial Statistics, Risk Management and Actuarial Science, as well as Big Data Statistical Methods and Applications, and so forth. Particularly, Applied Mathematics is a key discipline at the university level. The School has teaching and research platforms such as the Data Science and Big Data Analysis Collaborative Innovation Center of Zhejiang 2011 Collaborative Innovation Center, the Economy and Big Data Experimental Teaching Center of Provincial Key Construction Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center, and more than 10 off-campus practice education bases like ZUFE "Pan-Industry" Practice Education Base for Data Analysis at the provincial level, Hithink RoyalFlush Information Network Co., Ltd. and Hangzhou Yangtze River Delta Big Data Research Institute, etc.
The School presently has an excellent and competitive faculty team with a reasonable age structure and meticulous scholarship. The team consists of 68 faculty members, including 38 professors and associate professors, among whom 43 members own doctoral degrees. ZUFE boasts a host of outstanding experts and scholars, including those who are honored as national leading talents in the "Ten Thousand Talents" Program of philosophy and social sciences as well as national cultural masters of the "Four Batches Talent" Project, those who are on the list of provincial talents, as one in the first batch of "Five Batches Talent" Project , 2 in the "151 First-Level Talent" Plan, one in the "151 Second-Level Talent" Plan and 4 in the "151 Third-Level Talent" Plan. More talents are supported by the Province, namely, one key subsidized candidate and 5 general subsidized candidates of Young and Middle-Aged Provincial Discipline Leaders, one New Teaching Talent of Zhejiang Province, two Excellent Young Teachers of Zhejiang Province, and two Outstanding Overseas Returnees of Zhejiang Province, etc. The faculty members have won many honors such as National Outstanding Teacher, Ministry of Education "Young Teacher Award", etc. Among members, there are Vice President of Chinese Statistical Society, Vice President of Chinese Statistical Education Society, Vice Director of Higher Education Instruction Committee of Ministry of Education, expert of National Social Science Foundation Statistical Subject Review Group, Vice President of Zhejiang Statistical Society, Vice Secretary-general of Zhejiang Field Statistical Society, and so on.
The School has achieved fruitful research results. More than 310 academic papers were published in authoritative journals at home and abroad, includingJASA, Math. Prog.,SIAM Opt.,Biometrics,Acta Mathematica Sinica,Economic Research JournalandStatistical Researchand so forth, among which 150-plus articles were indexed by SCI or SSCI. The School has carried out various research programs including more than 40 projects fundedby the nationalfoundation (2 major projects supported by National Social Science Foundation) and more than 70 ones supported by provincial foundation. The results have won more than 10 national and provincial awards, encompassing the Second Prize of Excellent Achievements in Scientific Research in Higher Education (Humanities and Social Sciences) and the First Prize of Excellent Achievements in Philosophy and Social Sciences of Zhejiang Province.
Inspired by the motto of "wide possibility, solid foundation, strong capability and high quality", the School focuses on nurturing students' disciplinary quality and innovation consciousness. Meanwhile, it pays great attention to promoting students' comprehensive quality and cooperative ability. The students have achieved excellence in domestic or overseas scientific, technological and mathematical modeling competitions at or above the provincial level, attaining more than 210 national and provincial honors and winning firstprizes manytimes. The graduates are warmly welcomed and highly valued by employers for their solid foundation, broad knowledge, and strong practical ability. In the past few years, the employment rate has all exceeded 97%, and some of the students have furthered their studies in prestigious universities including Peking University, Zhejiang University, Fudan University, and Columbia University, Hong Kong Polytechnic University and so forth.
