Delegation Headed by Vice President Zhanrong Li Visited Universities in South Africa and the United Arab Emirates

From July 14 to 22, at the invitation of North-West University (NWU) and Heriot-Watt University (Dubai campus), Mr. Li led a delegation to visit the two universities.

At NWU, the delegation was successively warmly received by its vice president Robert Balfour, Refilwe Phaswana-Mafuya, and Daryl Balia.

The two parties introduced the basic situation of their respective universities, and jointly signed the "Agreement between ZUFE and NWU on Cooperative Construction of Confucius Institute (Confucius Classroom) at NWU." In addition, they also reached an agreement on the construction of a Confucius Institute (Confucius Classroom), mutual visits of teachers and exchange of students, etc.

The delegation also visited the campus of NWU, and took a field trip to its School of Humanities, School of Law, and library. Thanks to the great teaching conditions it affords, beautiful campus environment it operates on, and strong learning atmosphere it creates, NWU left a deep impression on the delegation.

During their visit in South Africa, the delegation also visited the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the Republic of South Africa upon appointment, and listened to an introduction by Education Counsellor Daoyu Wang on the status and prospects of higher education cooperation between China and South Africa. Mr. Li introduced the basic situation of ZUFE to Mr. Wang and reported the cooperation between ZUFE and NWU to build a Confucius Institute, which was praised and supported by the Education Office of the Embassy.

At Heriot-Watt University (Heriot Watt Dubai Campus), the delegation was warmly welcomed by Kaji Tamang, Manager of Admissions & Compliance of the University.

The two parties introduced the general situation and characteristics of their respective universities, and conducted in-depth exchanges on Chinese international education, artificial intelligence professional talent training, e-commerce professional teacher visits, and student exchanges between the two sides.

This visit has enhanced the understanding of higher education in South Africa and the Middle East, expanded the cooperation channels between ZUFE's teachers and students and universities in South Africa and the Middle East for exchanges, learning, and further studies. At the same time, it would be of very positive significance to further expand the exchanges and cooperation between ZUFE and universities in South Africa and Middle East and promote the internationalization of education.
