On March 15, Essential Science Indicators (ESI) from Clarivate Analytics updated its latest statistics covering the period from January 1, 2013 to December 31, 2023. ZUFE's Environment/Ecology discipline ranks among the top 1% of ESI for the first time, marking the third discipline to enter the ESI ranking after Engineering and General Social Sciences.

ESI, built upon over 10 million literature records from more than 12,000 academic journals indexed by SCI (Science Citation Index) and SSCI (Social Science Citation Index), serves as a vital quantitative analysis database. It has emerged as a significant evaluation tool globally to assess the academic standing and influence of education institutions, academic organizations, and countries or regions.
