ZUFE News — On May 15, Mr. Hu Huikang, President of the Hong Kong Hangzhou CPPCC Friendship Association, led a delegation of faculty and students from Hong Kong Hong Kong Shue Yan University (HKSYU) to Zhejiang University of Finance and Economics (ZUFE) for an exchange and study visit. ZUFE President and Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee Chen Yantai, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee Xu Xiaodong, and Party Committee Member and Vice President Zhou Biyu warmly met with the visiting delegation.
On behalf of ZUFE, Xu Xiaodong extended a warm welcome to the visiting delegation and gave an overview of the university’s educational development and progress. He noted that ZUFE is thoroughly implementing the “"New Finance and Economics Strategy"” and actively promoting educational exchanges and cooperation with Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, and that this exchange brought together over seventy young students from both institutions for in-depth discussions on the business formats and cultural industries of Hangzhou and Hong Kong. He expressed the hope that the youth of both universities would cherish this exchange opportunity, spark inspiration in one another, inspire in one another, strengthen their friendship, and jointly chart a vision for cultural and educational integration and collaborative advancement between the two cities.
Xu Yajuan, Deputy Director of the Hangzhou Committee of the Committee for Liaison with Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and Overseas Chinese and Foreign Affairs of the Hangzhou Committee of the CPPCCs, fully affirmed the positive role of cultural exchanges between Zhejiang and Hong Kong universities and expressed high expectations for future youth exchanges between the two regions.
Chen Qian, Vice President of Hong Kong Hong Kong Shue Yan University (HKSYU), expressed gratitude to ZUFE for its strong support of the study visit program and summarized the outcomes of the Hangzhou-Hong Kong-Macao Youth Exchange Program. She noted that through firsthand experience of Hangzhou’s development and China’s governance practices, the youth from Hong Kong and Macao had effectively strengthened their national identity.
Hu emotionally reviewed the Association's 10-year journey of promoting economic and cultural exchanges between Hangzhou and Hong Kong. He emphasized the important role of university student exchange platforms in youth integration, expressing the hope that through cooperation between ZUFE and relevant Hong Kong institutions, both sides would jointly establish teaching and research practice bases, achieve resource sharing and coordinated development, enhance the quality of talent cultivation, and better serve social needs.
Student representatives from both universities delivered thematic presentations on topics including cultural integration between Hangzhou and Hong Kong, commercialization-based preservation of local culture, and the operation of art-commercial spaces. They also engaged in in-depth exchange and discussion on curriculum features, cultural integration, business practice, and career development.
During the exchange, the School of Arts held cooperation talks with officials from Hong Kong Hong Kong Shue Yan University (HKSYU), the Hong Kong Hangzhou CPPCC Friendship Association, and the Committee for Liaison with Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and Overseas Chinese and Foreign Affairs of the Hangzhou Committee of the CPPCC. Hu Rong, Executive Council Member of the Hong Kong Hangzhou CPPCC Friendship Association, stated that the Association is willing to leverage its platform to deepen pragmatic cooperation in areas such as cultural and artistic talent cultivation, school-enterprise cooperation, and Hangzhou-Hong Kong youth exchanges, working together to build a long-term and stable bridge of cooperation.
Representatives from the Office of Social Cooperation, the School of Management, and the School of Arts participated in the above activities.
