The 8th International Conference on Formal Linguistics Held in Hangzhou

Hosted by National Professional Committee of Formal Linguistics and undertaken by School of Foreign Languages of ZUFE, the 8th International Conference on Formal Linguistics was successfully held in Hangzhou. More than 150 experts and scholars of over 50 universities and research institutes, both at home and abroad, attended the conference.

Professor Tim Stowell of University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), Professor Philippe Schlenker of French National Academy of Sciences and New York University, and Professor Andrew Nevins of University College London delivered keynote speeches, in which they interpreted language from tense, reference, the meaning expressed in symbolic languages, to the experimental morphological syntax.

Professor Daogen Cao and Dr. Xi Songfromthe School of Foreign Languages at ZUFE gave speeches on the topics of Permission of Explicit Controlled Items in Chinese Control Sentences and Study on the Relationship between the Syntactic Structure and Rhythmic Structure ofThe Book of Songs: Feng.

This International Conference is a high-end linguistics conference with a high degree of participation, a wide range of research and a deep level of discussion. It not only steps up the academic exchanges of experts at home and abroad and promotes Chinese linguistics development, but also levels up the international influence and popularity of ZUFE.
