The Song Yun Culture Research Center is Officially Unveiled

The Song Yun Culture Research Center (SYCRC), jointly established by ZUFE and Qiantang District of Hangzhou was inaugurated at Xiasha Campus on November 3rd. Many officials, teachers, and students attended the inauguration, including Chen Lai, Dean of the Institute of the Traditional Chinese Studies of Tsinghua University, Zhu Jieren, Tenured Professor of East China Normal University, He Jun, Distinguished Professor of Fudan University, Xiao Ruifeng, provincial special expert and former Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Zhejiang University of Technology, Zhu Renqiu, Vice Dean of the School of Humanities of Xiamen University, Zhong Xiaomin, Deputy Secretary and President of the Party Committee of ZUFE, Xu Xiaodong, Member of the Party Committee and Vice President, Lou Danqun, Member of the Party Committee and Director of the Office of Organization, Publicity and United Front, Li Peng, Member of the Standing Committee and Minister of Office of Publicity of Qiantang District Committee, He Xuebing, Chairman of Qiantang District Federation of Humanities and Social Sciences as well as heads of relevant departments and representatives of teachers and students from the School of Humanities and Communication.

Before the inauguration, Li Jinchang, Secretary of the Party Committee of ZUFE, met with Professor Chen Lai, Professor Zhu Jieren, and Professor He Jun. He expressed welcome and gratitude to all experts for their arrival and introduced the history and basic status quo of ZUFE. An in-depth exchanges and discussions were made on enhancing the building and development of the humanities.

Zhong Xiaomin pointed out that SYCRC should make full use of the academic platform of the university, combine the local culture of Qiantang District, and create a high-quality project of Qiantang Culture with the purpose of studying Song Yun culture, fostering local development, and promoting the communication of traditional Chinese culture so as to support and enhance the economic and cultural development of Qiantang District, effectively promoting exchange and collaboration among universities, government, and society. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the School of Humanities and Communication, and the establishment of SYCRC will further the development of the humanities at ZUFE. He hoped that through five to ten yearsdevelopment, SYCRC could be built into a base for the research and communication of fine traditional Chinese culture and a training base for traditional Chinese Studies, becoming another benchmark for institution-locality collaboration.

Li Peng stressed that SYCRCs establishment was an important measure to advance the heritage projects of Song Yun culture for it seized the key research approach to Song Yun culture and Qiantang culture which had high values of the times and more urgent real needs. Backed by SYCRC, a platform for the communication of Song Yun culture and Qiantang culture will facilitate exchange and collaboration among universities, governments, and society, fostering the socio-economic development of Qiantang District; it will be conducive to promoting the contemporary inheritance and innovation of excellent traditional culture and improving the research level of Qiantang District culture in all respects; it will help to tap the potential of the local culture and create a high-quality project of Song Yun culture and Qiantang culture, increasing their attraction and influence in Zhejiang, in China, and even in the world.

Zhu Jieren is engaged as Honorary Director of SYCRC, He Jun, Xiao Ruifeng, and Chen Ye as consultants, and Lou Danqun and Li Peng as directors. At the inauguration, Zhong Xiaomin presented letters of appointment to the honorary director and consultants. Xu Xiaodong read the list of members of SYCRC. Zhong Xiaomin, Chen Lai, Zhu Jieren and Li Peng then jointly unveiled SYCRC.

After the inauguration, Chen Lai gave a report themed on The Rise and Historical Orientation of Song Learning” at Wenjin Academy.
