ZUFE Holds Seminar on "Seizing Summit Opportunities and Deepening China-Central Asia Cooperation"

Recently, the seminar on "Seizing Summit Opportunities and Deepening China-Central Asia Cooperation" sponsored by the Kazakhstan Economic and Social Research Center was held online. More than 10 experts and scholars from domestic universities and research institutions exchanged ideas on China-Central Asia cooperation and development in the context of the post-summit, as well as tracking research hotspots of Central Asia cooperation.

Fellow Li Ziguo, director of the Department for European-Central Asian Studies of China Institute of International Studies, Professor Lu Shanbing, dean of School of Central Asia of Northwestern University, Fellow Wang Haiyan, vice dean of Institute of Russian and Eurasian Studies and director of the Center for Kazakhstan Studies of East China Normal University, Professor Zhang Shaoying, deputy director of China-Shanghai Cooperation Organization Training Base for International Judicial Exchanges and Cooperation of Shanghai University of Political Science and Law, Professor Wang Weiran, secretary of the Party Committee of the Business School of Xinjiang Normal University and director of the China-Russia Eastern European Society, Fellow Xu Tao, deputy director of the Eurasian Social Development Research Institute of the State Council Development Research Center and Director of the Central Asia Department, Professor Hua Zhengxue, chief expert of the National Social Science Foundation Major Project and a faculty of the School of Marxism of ZUFE and Professor Yu Muhong, director of the Kazakhstan Economic and Social Research Center, respectively made keynote speeches on: "The Successful Experience and Future Direction of China and Central Asia", "The Great Significance of the China-Central Asia Summit", "The Strategic Impact of the China-Central Asia Summit on China's Surrounding Areas", "The Enlightenment of the China-Central Asia Summit on Further Playing the Role of Think Tank, Forum, and Training in China's SCO Base", "China-Central Asia Economic and Trade Cooperation in the Post-Summit Context", "Several Concerns about the Central Asian Situation in the Context of the Russia-Ukraine Conflict", "Prospects for China-Central Asia Poverty Reduction Cooperation in the Post-Summit Context", and "Reflections on Deepening Economic and Trade Cooperation between Zhejiang and Central Asia in the Context of the New Starting Point of the 'Golden 30 Years'".

In addition, Dr. Ma Yanning, Dr. Wang Mengting, and Dr. Yang Liyun, assistant research fellows of the Kazakhstan Economic and Social Studies Center, as well as Dr. Lyv Zhengang, a postdoctoral fellow at the postdoctoral research station at the School of International Relations of Jinan University, also exchanged and shared their ideas at the seminar.

This seminar aimed to implement the achievements of the China-Central Asia Summit and was the first nationwide seminar to promote the development of China Central Asia cooperation based on the perspective of researchers. It was greatly supported by New Observation of the Silk Road All-Media, a well-known media in China. The speakers were mostly prestigious experts and scholars in the field of Central Asian studies in China. Participants gave their comments and brainstormed, achieving the purpose of exchange. The seminar enhanced the confidence in cooperation, and would deepen and consolidate Central Asian and regional country studies, making new and greater contributions to deepening China-Central Asia cooperation.
